Project overview
D-DAY: Freedom From Above pays tribute to the airborne operations of June 6, 1944, and to the American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st divisions during the Normandy landings.
Designed by Histovery in collaboration with American museum institutions, the exhibition combines historical artifacts, immersive scenography, and digital experiences. Using the HistoPad tablet, visitors relive the events of D-Day through accurate 3D reconstructions and interactive storytelling.
Presented in major military museums in the United States, the exhibition allows international audiences to discover the history of D-Day through innovative augmented mediation.
Scenographic concept
The exhibition follows a chronological narrative structured in four sequences:
-
preparation of the Allied landing,
-
airborne operations and paratrooper missions,
-
battles and liberation of Sainte-Mère-Église,
-
remembrance and tribute to the soldiers.
The scenography combines modular structures, backlit visuals, historical objects, illuminated maps, and immersive digital environments. Dramatic lighting and restrained graphic design recreate the atmosphere and tension of the night of June 6, 1944.
The Washington presentation adopts a more symbolic and condensed approach, focusing on collective memory and the human dimension of the operation, using projections, testimonials, and immersive audiovisual devices.
