Project overview

Notre-Dame de Paris — The Augmented Exhibition is an immersive traveling exhibition exploring the history, architecture, and restoration of the cathedral.

Developed by Histovery, the exhibition offers an augmented visit through the HistoPad tablet, allowing visitors to experience eight centuries of history through interactive and virtual reconstructions.

Presented in major cultural institutions worldwide, the exhibition supports the international awareness of Notre-Dame’s heritage and its ongoing restoration after the 2019 fire.

Scenographic concept

The scenography was designed as a modular and transportable system adaptable to various architectural contexts, combining freestanding structures, backlit panels, audiovisual devices, and a sober design emphasizing digital content.

The visitor journey explores:

  • the construction of the cathedral in the 12th century,

  • its historical influence,

  • the 19th-century restoration led by Viollet-le-Duc,

  • the 2019 fire and current reconstruction.

Historical documents, 3D reconstructions, archive films, and immersive content create a complete visitor experience.

Technical approach

The exhibition system ensures efficient international touring through:

  • prefabricated modular structures,

  • technical furniture integrating HistoPad tablets,

  • lighting optimized for digital content,

  • lightweight and durable materials suitable for international transport.

Installation quality and graphic consistency were ensured on each venue through close coordination with local partners. All installations were executed by MAGAN under the direction of Maximilien Berlincourt.

Scope of work
  • Scenographic design and development

  • Furniture and graphic elements design

  • Technical coordination and installation supervision

Since 2021, it has welcomed more than one million visitors worldwide and has become a reference in augmented cultural exhibitions.
